SEO For Cyber Security Companies

I specialize in SEO for Cyber Security companies and already have a proven blueprint for your business with demonstrated results. Industry leaders in cybersecurity work with me to enhance their online presence.

A few words about my experience with SEO for cybersecurity firms

Here are some cybersecurity brands I’ve helped to scale, and I’m almost certain you’ll recognize at least some of them if you work in this industry:

For some of these companies (I can’t specify which ones), I managed to secure a B2B lead every business day – more than 20 leads a month – after just four months of SEO work. For others, similar levels of success were achieved a bit later.

You know, the average contract size in this industry is quite substantial, so generating one lead a day is really good.

And the best part? The high buying intent of these leads. We mostly targeted companies who urgently needed to sign a contract with a cybersecurity firm right now. For instance, SOC 2 leads can sometimes sign a contract within a week. Closing rates can sometimes exceed 80% from lead to client.

Why SEO is the Best Channel for Cybersecurity

Long story short:

  • SEO ensures that your potential customers find you precisely when they need you – a crucial factor that is often underestimated. People are generally more prepared to sign a contract when they discover your services themselves. In contrast, they tend to have numerous objections when you reach out to them with your ads.
  • PPC advertising can lead to extremely high Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC), and you’re likely aware of this, especially since the average Lifetime Value (LTV) of your clients is in the six figures. Spending thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars, might not yield any contracts at all.

The right SEO strategy includes deep keyword research and prioritizing keywords that we can quickly win to get you clients as soon as possible, while at the same time building your topical authority to win your dream keywords in the future.

How I Became a Leading SEO Expert in the Cybersecurity Industry

First Earnings Online

My journey in SEO and cybersecurity began in 2010 when I was primarily building my own websites and trying to monetize them with Google AdSense. My main strategy was straightforward:

  1. Create a website.
  2. Find a topic with high search demand.
  3. Write an article on this topic.
  4. Generate significant traffic.
  5. Place Google AdSense blocks at the beginning and end of the article.
  6. Earn some money from AdSense.

While this approach was effective, I was looking for ways to increase my profits from this traffic. I began targeting specific people with specific problems and offering them solutions.

Developing My Own Antivirus Product & SEO for Marketing

In 2012, a virus emerged that blocked users from accessing sites like Facebook, demanding money to restore access. After investigating, I discovered that:

  1. Hackers created a website that resembled Facebook, hosted on a server linked to a specific IP address.
  2. The virus modifies the hosts file in the system32 directory so that typing in your favorite website’s name would redirect you to this fake site.
  3. The fake site claiming you were blocked and requesting payment to unblock your account.

Realizing I could solve this issue, I developed a script to clear the hosts file and restore its original state, a relatively simple task. I then created a portable antivirus program (*.exe file) and:

  1. Created a webpage on each of my sites about this problem.
  2. Performed SEO to ensure these pages ranked on the first page of search results.
  3. Added a link to download my antivirus on these pages, offering it free after watching ads for 60 seconds, or for a small fee for immediate access.

This venture was quite successful. I leveraged my cybersecurity and programming skills to create a product, marketed it through my own websites, and helped people while earning a decent income.

Eventually, major antivirus companies addressed this issue, and traffic to my pages dwindled, but this experience marked the beginning of my journey in cybersecurity and SEO.

Working with Major Cybersecurity Companies as an SEO Expert

Later, I was recruited to establish an SEO division within a UK-based digital marketing agency. Part of my strategy involved targeting specific clients in niche industries, including cybersecurity.

We acquired several cybersecurity companies as clients, ranging from general firms offering penetration testing, red teaming, and vulnerability assessments, to those specializing in products like ML-based open-source WAFs and compliance services such as SOC 2.

Our success in securing these contracts was largely due to my ability to communicate in the clients’ language and understand the unique challenges of the cybersecurity industry.

This expertise led to me winning a UK Search Award in the B2B niche for my cybersecurity case studies.

Challenges and Why Other SEO Agencies Struggle with Cybersecurity

I quickly realized the depth of knowledge required to effectively manage SEO for a cybersecurity company.

Firstly, it’s challenging to promote a product without a deep understanding of it. To run a successful SEO campaign, you must grasp the client’s customer profile – not just a generic “big company in need of services.” You need to anticipate the exact keywords a CEO or founder might enter into Google when ready to purchase your client’s services. Moreover, you must be capable of creating a webpage that persuades these decision-makers to schedule an appointment.

Secondly, conducting keyword research and content planning is unfeasible without a solid understanding of the relevant terminology. For instance, knowing that SOC 2 is typically pertinent to American companies, whereas ISO 27001 is a common compliance requirement in Europe, is essential.

Thirdly, you cannot simply hire a standard content writer. Typical content writers may produce incorrect information, necessitating a writer with cybersecurity expertise to generate accurate and effective content.
